Great show....but cancelled? - Working the Engels (2014) Discussion

Haven't heard anything about the show being cancelled. When I recorded the last episode, the description of the episode started:

"In the season 1 finale".....

Makes me sense that it is getting picked up for a second season. Then again, TV networks chop programs without warning.

Just ask the cast of "We Are Men" (cancelled after TWO episodes).

Hasn't premiered yet. Probably will be canceled, but that's just going with the odds. I will watch this.

Hasn't premiered yet? I've watched all 12 episodes. Enjoyed 11 of them. And Kacey Rohl is one of the best looking female leads out there right now. She makes the entire series worth watching. Always liked Andrea Martin, but her character can be a little annoying, but some fun moments. The character of "Jenna"'s brother on the show is a little annoying too, not really his acting but the way he is scripted.

Yes. It aired on GlobalTV in Canada between March and May of this year.

Oh, okay. This is one of the first times a Canadian sitcom is airing in the US. Canadian humor does not translate to America. This show will probably flop, yeah. I'll watch it though. I like Azura Sky and Kasey.

No, it's because Canadian humor isn't good. Just watched the premiere, and I could barely sit through the whole thing. It was the worst show I've seen in awhile. It was not funny at all.

I'm pretty sure they are showing the same episodes that aired in Canada, so I don't think they "dumbed it down" for American audiences. It's just dumb all on its own. Let's not forget that the "dumb Americans" have brought forth some of the funniest shows on TV...Friends, The Mindy Project, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Modern Family, parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Seinfeld, not to mention some of the classic sitcoms that are still funny, many years later - Cosby, Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore. What has Canada brought us, besides Degrassi? Which is just funny because of how dumb it was. All of you who are constantly bashing Americans, and American TV are probably just jealous that you don't live here, and have to live in Canada. ;)

How you lumped "The Mindy Project" in with Seinfeld, Cosby, Parks and Rec and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is beyond me...but I agree with your main point.

But keep in mind, Canada also brought us Alex Trebek, Pamela Anderson and Terrence & Phillip.

I think The Mindy Project is hilarious! Maybe not QUITE up to the standards as some of the other shows I listed, but it's funny and gets good ratings. Definitely better than this superbly unfunny show!

I really liked it and it was good to see Andrea Martin on TV again. She hasn't lost her comedic timing. I hope it gets picked up.

It was a little off but still funniest enough to keep watching.
I'm fan of AM's as well. Loved on SCTV.
I hope they'll at least show the whole season. But still I bet it will get cancelled after that.
Shows like this now-a-days don't stand chance if they don't get insane ratings the first ep.
