It just seems to me that the whole experience must have been miserable for the accomplices since all sorts of things were going wrong all the way up to "The Walk" and any misstep on the walk itself would have killed him.

I knew he was going to survive - he wrote the book that inspired the movie, after all - but I cringed while he was on the wire, too. When he got to the other side the first time, I was yelling at my computer screen, "Ok, you did it - now get off the wire!"
