terrible forced over-acting and horrible look and accent.

I thought Keanu was forcing it bad in the most notable forced acting film I remember lately (Knock Knock).. that was until I saw JGL.. now I like this guy a lot and have enjoyed all the films of his that I have watched. But I just couldn't stand watching him try to overact this part. why did they choose him? terrible casting decision. and the contact lenses are atrocious and make him look horrible. there's no symmetry at all in his look. and that over exaggerated accent.. omg. JGL ruined the film. Shame.

reply

... why did you say Kenau?

Meanwhile, I thought it was pretty good - but the dark scenes were just too dark - and I hated that the movie did'nt come with english subtitles ...

reply

If you've heard the real Phillippe Petit speak, then you know JGL's accent was not exaggerated in the least.

reply

You're absolutely right. The extra feature on the blu-ray featuring Mr. Petit makes that very clear.

reply

The contacts might have been obvious on the big screen, but I've only seen this in 2D blu-ray, and I can say that the contacts are not obvious, not even really visible, through virtually the entire movie when seen on the small screen. Also, his accent is very close to the real man's accent.

reply

Haha. The contacts are awful in any "D"

reply

He sounded French to me!

reply

Because you don't know the real accent

reply

Blow me

reply

I was able to spot Barry Greenhouse's ( actor's ) accent as fake right away.

reply

I didn't think so. I thought it was perfectly fine. I have seen a lot of French men to know that's how they speak, with force when they communicate in English.

reply

Anyone with any experience with the French language know how ordinary JGL's accent was even it sounds similar to the real Petit to the untrained ear. Also agree with the contact lenses. Is it really that necessary to get eye colour factual at the expense of making the movie look terrible?
