Episode 8 of Season 2 was very poorly done

Bad idea to insert interviews during episode 8, completely unnecessary and extremely boring.
Why they chose to do that, I'm not sure, maybe there was a lack of story and wanted to stretch the season by wasting screen time....

Critical and audience acclaim for that particular episode would appear to put you in the minority. But I can say definitively that neither the network or the producers inserted the interviews because there was a lack of story. Ironically, there had been another school shooting just before this episode aired. As for you being bored when someone described what it was like when they were being shot at... well, no further comment.

Agree with engle_james. AC is not the show for you as those interviews made an already great story even better & real.

Well, I'm with you OP, I also thought it was unnecessary and distracting, it also felt really cheap.

In the beginning of the episode, I almost thought they were actors. I didn't think it added that much either.

I'd like to say everyone is entitled to their opinion but sometimes that opinion shows exactly what is wrong with society. Lack of empathy. Sad you also found it boring. You could get so much more out of life if you got out of your comfort zone once in a while.

I'm with you, too. What we were watching was fiction. To insert real people -- I assume they were real people -- who suffered similar tragedies didn't serve either the fiction or the reality.

If you're making a doc, make a doc. If you're doing drama, do drama. Don't mix the two.

It would be like having someone come on stage in the middle of Streetcar Named Desire and talk about what it's like to grow up a southern belle and then fall on hard times.

An exaggeration but you get the point.

This thread is kinda funny because my bf and I had to watch it twice and still didn't really pay attention, and yea I think the interviews contributed to that. I mean they weren't even interviews with characters or pertaining to the actual story. Wasted screen time in an otherwise excellent show.
