Early R.E.M. fans beware.

They throw the title to one of R.E.M.'s best songs out there, along with Jason Schwartzman who has a brand of humor that's been pretty well documented.

If you're expecting a funny, quirky movie that although is a little depressing here and there, but ultimately charms you the way his projects usually do, then stay away from this movie.

The whole soundtrack is Guided By voices here, Big Star there, they call it power pop for a reason. And then what do you get? The most undeveloped sad sack story. Even for a drunken mess, there's not much going on here outside of the loser being a loser. And why did they lure me in with that title? I haven't a clue. In fact, the tastes of the main character seem to have little to do with the over all feel of the soundtrack.

Why is any of this important? Because if you're looking for what this movie seems to be from the outset trying to promise, than forget it. It's not funny, it's not quirky or cool. It's a drag. There's nothing to see, it's devoid of insight.

ERROR. The people you are trying to warn are non existent

"I don't take kindly to being told I don't exist" - this guy

Don't worry about it. A lot of people's existence is denied. Most of them i'm sure they do not exist. :)
Have you seen the movie?

reply

Nope. And I don't really want to. I just find it kind of funny that someone decided to name a movie after one of the songs on their best album.

I'm trying to think of other examples of this, but I can only think of Fallen Angel by Kar Wai Wong and I'm almost certain his movie is not named after the King Crimson song. Huh.

There are dozens of us. DOZENS.

Yeah mungoooo the jokes are so unfunny, its like they tried to do something like the humor of Clerks (Kevin Smith) , but totally failed in doing so. zzzzzzzz P.S. R.E.M. sucks

I agree with the OP. This is the kind of movie that makes you think "Why was it even made?," and the most/only notable thing about it is the feeling you get of your time being thrown away while you're watching it. Trying to describe what it's "about" or what "happens" is like trying to describe the visual qualities of air. There's just nothing there.
