One of the most godawful movies I have ever seen.

That is all.

Except one interesting note...(spoiler alerts if you really care, which you shouldn't)...a primary plot line is that the main characters go after their daughter, just like in San Andreas, which came out a year after this film.

I tried to give this movie a chance, I love a good disaster movie. It falls way short, though. Even Jeffrey Jones was terrible. The plot was weak and predictable, the science behind it even weaker, and characters laughably stereotypical. It's just not worth the time.
