This is a God-Awful Show

Here are a few reasons why:

1. The writers must make every character immensely stupid in order to achieve the desired goal for the end of each episode. They do things that no rational person would do when they know that they're facing a malevolent alien who can control children and electricity.

2. The story changes. Drill can apparently communicate through any light, according to the early episodes, so why is electricity so important now?

3. The fellow who killed Drill as a boy was always a threat, because he knew how to kill him. Why did Drill wait until the main characters found him to kill him? Why not send one of his sociopathic minions to do it as soon as he got to Earth? Are we supposed to believe that the inept FBI and DHS agents discovered a secret (that the boy was still alive) that the hyper-intelligent alien being couldn't discover by using the internet?

4. WATCH THE DAMN CHILDREN, YOU IDIOTS!

5. Lily Rabe's scream.

6. Lena had just attempted to murder someone at the behest of Drill by firing multiple shots into him. Maybe the best course of action is to let her join your Scooby-Doo gang that is currently investigating the man she tried to kill hours ago.

7. The actress who played the man who killed Drill and the one who plays Lena are both also in Zoo. Do their agents automatically rubber stamp anything that comes across their desks?

This show wasn't bad at first. It wasn't the best, but it was entertaining and a little interesting. After the nuclear plant incident, it started become slowly, yet surely, unwatchable. Intelligent, thoughtful programs are invariably cancelled early, but this sort of dreck gets churned out year after year and often stays on the air for long periods of time. The worst part is that this is almost interchangeable with any other "supernatural thriller" that the studios crank out.

In a way, it reminds me of a child's Play-Doh machine. You put in the raw ingredients, squeeze, and out pops one of three different shapes. That's what we see on network TV for the most part these days. There is so little creativity, and even less regard for the audience.

I agree with every point you made! There is very little creativity and originality on television these days. It seems like anything that is halfway decent and actually made for adults is cancelled. Network TV just gets worse and worse!

Binged watched the first three episodes and could tell this show was going nowhere fast. Flipped over to Wayward Pines and never came back.

No regrets, none.

Regarding item #5, I've seen better acting at high school performances than the lame attempt that Ms. Rabe made at conveying anguish with her truly horrific scream. She should have asked the Geico commercial screaming goat for a clue on how to emote authentically. And I state this as a fan of her acting up to this point.

You can tell Rabe just doesn't want to be there.

When ABC moved the show's production from L.A. to Vancouver for cost reasons, none of the stars were happy about it. You can tell Rabe just wants to get the show over and done with so she can leave.

Lily Rabe must be so relieved that she will be back on American Horror Story soon, and she'll get to leave this crappy show behind, lol. Her talents are being wasted on The Whispers. AHS is just a way better show.

That's the thing. Lily Rabe is an excellent actress is everything else I've seen her in. So her mediocre acting in this program has me baffled. I adore her to no end, I just think this was a misfire, she realized it and is phoning everything in.

Well if people sit on the couch and watch this drivel then well they did the job. The show was interesting but remember they now have 10-13 episodes to churn these crap out so any idea gets a go, knowing they can cancel them fast. Which also means no one thinks more than the pilot and just go along and make stuff up. They had this drill idea who was invisible to adults and it could talk to kids. We do have people who can make kids do anything.. hence parents tell the kids to not talk to strangers.. I though we did not have a crime case being solved by seeing the future, eating the past or asking a ghost but talk about a show that has gone off the rails. It makes the izombie, stichers, messengers, lucifer, minority report seem positively brilliant..

It was just about watchable until the last episode then it became total bull *beep*

Kind of agree. I like the show but with each episode, they act more and more stupid, and I like it less and less.

Agree with everything you said except for number 7. I've no idea how many (if any) roles these folks are being offered, and it's often a good idea to do network shows just to make connections.

I almost didn't tune in this week, and by the end I was done with this show? Anyone know how many more episodes there are? If it's only one, I'll watch it, but more than that I don't think I can take.

There are 3 episodes left. The finale airs on August 31st.

I am in complete agreement. Are we really being told that this alien being that can travel through electricity, be at the other side of the world in minutes, cure deaf people, improve a child's heart, bring someone out of a coma and consume a nuclear blast.... wants to posses one child?? For what purpose? Does it just really want to play baseball or something?

The whole premise is ridiculous. The being is way too powerful yet at the same time for some god knows reason needs to rely on children to do it's bidding. The only reason they made this show around children is because they think it brings a horror/suspense aspect to the show (which it doesn't) - this is evident in the way they ramp up the scary sound effects every time a child is doing something it shouldn't.

Are we really to believe that our children have no clue about what is right or wrong just because they are told by an imaginary friend that it's a game.. Jeez.

I'm quite sure the writers are making this up as they go along.

Finally, I found someone explaining aspects of this show that let's me know whether to continue watching.

I finished watching the 1st episode half an hour ago and thought it was quite intriguing. Now I'm reading your post and am very disappointed to hear it is about a super powerful godly alien travelling through electricity and doing other godly things.

If I wanted to watch basic story material like this, I'd watch Dragon Ball Z!

Careful what you say to me. I will argue with you forever. I enjoy trying to prolong arguments :D
