Incredibly disappointing show

I have 2 eps left but I am driven to post my disappointment. I love JG, see all his specials, have seen him live. He is actually my favorite living stand up comedian. But this show is bad. Bad,bad, bad, bad, bad. I cant believe how bad it is. The wife is a bytch, the maid is a bytch, his friend is an annoying aye-hole. They never have any cute moments with the kids, they are just like cats in the background. And Michael Ian Black may be the single most annoying character in tv history. Everyone treats Jim like manure and he just takes it. It isnt the slightest bit funny. The endless, needless cameos bring zero to the show. I cant remember the last time I assumed a show would be so good and it turned out so bad. I get the feeling this is more his wife's show than his. I remember him hosting the late show for a week on CBS after Ferguson left and he was trotting his wife out and kids and that was also disappointing.Has he just let her take over?

oh and the priest - what the heck, not a good actor, not interesting, brings nothing to the plot, not funny

I laughed once in 9 episodes

what a shame

Everything you said I disagree with lol. Respectively of course. But I really like it. I had only seen the first two, but I'm binge watching them all tonight and I'm laughing out loud which I haven't done with any new TV in a while (except for Last Man on Earth with Will Forte).

His wife isn't that much of a "bytch", I don't know where you get that. Shes demeaning to Jim at times which sets him up for some great back and fourth. The maid making fun of him is great too. That just sets him up with great comebacks, usually self depricating (just like his act on stage). His friend (Adam Goldberg) is great in the show! I've always liked him so maybe I'm a bit biased. But their relationship is pretty funny I think.

I'm glad they don't have a lot of the kids. That would get tired and old, and unoriginal. The amount of "cute moments" is perfect to me, because there isn't many. Michael Ian Black I will agree, his character shjtting on Gaffigans character all the time gets old. But like I said before, Jims retorts are always great. And the priest is obviously boring. But not on the show too much.

Also I enjoy the cameos too. I've never heard anyone hate on cameos. Majority of them are all comedians Im a fan of. But to each their own. I'm sorry, as a fellow Gaffigan fan, that you're not into it like most of us are. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I like the direction his wife and him took the show.

It's not the Brady Bunch. It's not Who's The Boss or Silver Spoons or Eight Is Enough, or 19 and Counting, or Kate Plus Eight. It's not about dadda and mamma and cute widdle kids flushing Legos down the toilet. (He hardly remembers all their names, the doofus, as with LOT of men, a box of donuts is more enticing than a drooling infant to him.) Why would you think otherwise??? It's on 10 at night on cable, though there's nothing naughty about it, it's rather adult and clever at moments. Not sure why this thing was ever made, it started out rather strained - but it's got its moments, and some shows are funnier than others. Now that we're launched into the show proper, I think it will be even funnier. I am looking forward to cameos by Jesus Christ, lol!

Here is what I think: the premise of the show is this super-Catholic woman whose been looking for another Catholic has hit the jackpot with this kind- of- a-good-Catholic man. She wants that massive family, which has sent countless regular men fleeing for their lives - living in NYC is very expensive! He can apparently support all of them, and is agreeable to having 2, 4, 6, or 10. He doesn't sweat it, it's all good, whatever she wants - he really can't do any better, after all. A box of donuts, Sunday church, doing his comedy act - life is good for him! They are glad to have found each other and are making it work, much as an excellent arranged marriage would work.
