Why didn't she run around the lake instead of taking the boat

Hi all,

I love this. Best ghost story I have seen in 10 years, because most are rubbish and this was excellent.

However one thing annoyed me. Why on Earth did she get in that boat when it would have been quicker and much safer to run around the lake instead.

I mean the policeman got there much much later and still got to the boy first.

And would you get into a boat with a suspected murderer?
