Counterpart to Frances Ha?

I really enjoyed Tu dors Nicole. I've noticed that a lot of reviewers have compared it to Frances Ha (which, for the record, I also enjoyed). Frances Ha was feted as this quintessential portrait of what it's like to be a rudderless millennial, but I actually think Tu dors Nicole captures that sentiment better.

Frances Ha was a very optimistic portrayal of what it's like to be a modern-day twenty-something without direction - sure, she struggles with finding a job and dating, but she's living an exciting life in Brooklyn, aka the lifestyle that most twenty-somethings dream of. Conversely, Tu dors Nicole was the more accurate portrayal of what it's like to be fresh out of undergrad and not sure what you want to do with your life: Nicole is not living the glamorous urban hipster lifestyle like Frances, but is stuck living in her parents' house in the boring suburbs, working a menial job, and rehashing the same old drama with her hometown friends. As a result, I think they work nicely as counterparts to one another, with Frances Ha as the romantic portrayal of millennial life and Tu dors Nicole as the realistic portrayal. The surreal "dream sequences" throughout Tu dors Nicole actually don't even detract from the feeling of realism all that much.
