Will Punisher ever catch a break?

He has always been in my top three favorite heroes with Spider-man and Batman, but I have yet to see him really get unleashed. The Thomas Jane movie was good for the most part, but still made him seem a little weak. I took a few friends to the midnight opening of Punisher: War Zone and I never lived that one down, they still mock me for making them watch that.

Then I see my brother watching this movie and decide to check it out. It's almost like they wanted Frank to be like Wolverine all the way down to his facial hair and voice. I personally think that Ray Stevenson was a perfect Castle even though his movie was sht.

Why can't someone just take the Punisher MAX version by Garth Ennis and make it a gritty crime movie? That's all I'm asking. Make it dark, violent and badass and I'll be on board. Don't tie him to Avengers or anything (although a cameo in Spider-man would be a dream come true) and just let him run rampant on any of his villains.

Punisher War Zone Was A Hell Of A Lot Better Than Thomas jane's Punisher,And This Is From A Guy That's Been A Fan Of The Character Since He Appeared In Amazing Spider-Man. The Only Problem With War Zone Is That It Was A Little Cartoony,The Way Steven Segal Films Used To Be When He Was A Grade A Action Star. ( Not A Bloated Egotist With A Need Of A Good Exercise Regimen.) This Cartoon Was Okay,But The Anime Look Does Not Work For Marvel Characters. The Black Widow Looked Too Asian,And Frank Looked,And Moved Like The Frankenstein Monster. Here's Hoping That Netflix And Marvel Decide To Make A Punisher Series Soon.

I'm sorry about practicing thread necromancy here, but I just have to say that you must be joking with this post, no?

Um, no.

Go back and watch Seagal's old 1980s and 1990s films, they're nothing like Punisher: Warzone. Despite being an egotistical prick, Seagal's Hard to Kill, Above the Law and Out for Justice were some gritty, hard-hitting, extremely hardcore action films. There was nothing really goofy or cartoony about them. I recently rewatched Out For Justice and some of the violence in that still made me cringe.

Nothing in Warzone was cringe on account of gore or realistic violence, it was just cringe because it was goofy. The bad guy getting grinded up in a glass crusher. The parkour criminals getting blown out of the sky mid-jump. The video game murder-house at the end... Like... really?

I agree with everyone that I liked Ray Stevenson's gritty portrayal of the Punisher but the movie itself was crap.

I hate to say it but Punisher Warzone was actually goofier than the 1980s Punisher with Dolph Lundgren.

Ray Liotta could have played him about 25 years ago.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name. ;)

That may be the worst casting suggestion I've ever seen on IMDB.
