They show Louis B. Mayer testifying before congress, then they cut to a shot of Senator Joseph McCarthy. Hollywood was investigated by HUAC in 1947 and later. Senator McCarthy NEVER investigated Hollywood!! This type of falsehoods just keeps the big lie alive. Obviously there was an agenda to continue the attacks on Senator McCarthy. Lillian Hellmans speech mentioning Senator McCarthy did the same thing, showing her ignorance on the subject of Hollywood blacklists.

I agree. Senator McCarthy was an outrageous lying alcoholic who used Americans' legitimate anxiety about Communism as a tool for self glorification to aid his own re-election. To honor him by associating an entire period of fear and sometimes over-reaction with his name does far too much for him. We need to come up with a better term for the period than continuing to name it for an opportunistic politician who killed himself with the bottle.
