Who narrates?

Anyone know who narrates this episode? It's driving me crazy, I can't find it anywhere!

Which episode?

"There will be blood. Oh, yes! There will be blood."-Jigsaw; "Saw II"

Let's say the Wyatt Earp episode. There was more than one guy involved in the off-action parts of course. I could swear one of them was the iconic screen Wyatt Earp, Kurt Russell.

reply

Kurt Russell didn't narrate the episode but he was in a few scenes talking about Wyatt.

Bob Tallman, rodeo announcer. When I heard the narration I said that I know that voice and it took me a bit but figured it out. Not much on here about the cast and crew.

Let me preface this by saying that I don't know for sure who narrates it either but I had the exact same reaction as you. "Who is that?...Why does that voice sound so familiar?...I know that voice!"

I listened to video of the rodeo announcer but it didn't even sound close but everyone's speaking voice sounds different than their "official speaking voice", so who knows.

In the beginning of the show the narrator states that he is Wyatt Earp. An actor named J.R. Ferguson is credited as playing Wyatt Earp. I could not find one video or audio clip of him to verify his voice.

Lastly, while I was in the process of watching the show I realized who the voice sounded like and that why it sounded so familiar to me. I don't know if you've ever watched WWE wrestling but the voice sounds just like John Cena to me. I'm sure it wouldn't be him but that's all I could come up with.

My guess was Colby Donaldson... It's interesting it is not listed anywhere!

I totally get the Colby Donaldson reference, it does sound like him. Being from Texas myself, actually just a few miles from where he used to have his auto shop, the voice seems to have the right Texas drawl. It's just a touch of southern twang without being overdone, at least in my somewhat biased opinion. Don't get me wrong, we have plenty of hillbillies that I can't even understand. They should be required to travel with a translator!

Funny! My family ranches right next to him and his family, and we live where he grew up. Small world. May be the only reason I recognize his voice, if it's him. We are dove hunting next weekend so I plan to ask him!

reply

Krisbrock105: Next weekend has come and gone, so what did you find out on your dove hunting trip?

reply

The convention on the series seems to be that the actor playing the lead character actually does the "first person" narration ... the "in character" telling of the story. (For example: "I met Doc Holliday in ...") So ... for the Wyatt Earp episode, J.R. Ferguson did the "Earp" narration. For the Wild Bill episode, Walt Willey did the "Wild Bill" narration.

The other narration through-out the episodes is done by the various on-screen experts -- sometimes you see them talking, and at other times you just hear their voices over the re-enactment scenes.

The actor who played Wyatt (J R Ferguson) had very few speaking parts, but early in the show he says "Which one of you wants to be on the working end of this pistol?" It's pretty clear it's the same voice as the narrator.
