If all of this were really possible, would humans be that cruel and unfeeling towards robots? I think more of my lawn tractor than they seem to care for the artificial people. If this is a true representation then I hope that it will never be possible.

shareGrand Theft Auto is a popular game. People are violent towards virtual men and women. I imagine when they make a virtual realty Grand Theft Auto, it will also be popular. If they ever got to the point that people could perform violent acts on robots, I image that would be popular too. In any of these scenarios it is not real. And just because someone plays along, that doesn't mean they would do it to real people.
