Koula

This might be considered a goof. In the last episode, after the parents were coming back from a funeral, Koula said something like When I die just put my ashes in a coffee can and store them in the basement. Greeks cannot be cremated. They must be buried intact.

reply

Anyone CAN be cremated. Many Greeks may choose not to be cremated based on religious or cultural beliefs, but they certainly can be if they want. Sorry, pet peeve.

reply

Why you apologize all the time?

Bytch type tendencies much?

You imply it is tradition/tendency. In the case of Greek orthodox it is hard and fast religious rule.

Even in the US no Greek Orthodox priest will conduct an actual funeral for a person cremated or who will be cremated.

reply

The Greek Orthodox church prohibits cremation, but there really isn't any evidence presented on the show that Koula is an observant orthodox christian.

reply

Fuc the Greek church.

Merica!

False

Did you read the story? Greek Orthodox cannot be cremated. You posted a story about atheists and non orthodox Greeks who can be.

the Character's name name is Toula. So she is not a Greek Jew or Greek Muslim.

Now I suppose you could have a show where people are sitting Shiva (Jewish mourning rite) while roasting a pig and claim it is technically possible, but people who know the culture might say rightly say: "what the heck??"

reply

You pay attention to much to stupid stuff.

reply

False , the church now allows cremation

You keep posting this even though you did not read the story you yourself cited.

All of my Jewish relatives and friends sit Shiva for immediate family!
Only two are Kosher!
