Thanks for the feedback fellow imdbers...y'all have made some valid points.
I should also qualify my original posting:
#1) Reading articles about Kung Fury, i know its been development for some time. Not knowing how long, i cannot say for certain that some concepts were not developed first or randomly and coincidentally, but it seems that Danger 5 well pre-dates production.
#2) great comments about wacky mash ups such as dinosaurs and nazis existing elsewhere. the internet..for years...has had alot of goofy such mashup images. My comments about similarities between Danger 5 and Kung Fury go far deeper than that. Its tough to quantify things like similarity in tone or parody or content without getting overly verbose. Im interested in others comments, from folks who have watched both, to see if my thoughts are founded or unfounded.
#3) i still absolutely dig Kung Fury. I think its an amazing accomplishment of effects, humor, and wackiness. I just think that, if it is indeed heavily based on other material, that it should reference it. I have the same analogy with Reservoir Dogs...its amazing..tarantinos amazing...but he should have acknowledged the strong influence of City on Fire (plot and shots) on his movie.
By all means, if y'all are reading this and havent seen Danger 5 yet..check it out. Its bat-sh@t-crazy-pants fun!
