As a Dane, Julianne Moore's "Danish" accent was really distracting...

- like one person said on these boards, it sounded like a German caricature.
But it was even worse when the redheaded daughter spoke Danish to her little brother, so the Greta Gerwig-character didn't find out what they saying - it sounded more Swedish than Danish!
They really should've consulted with a Danish speaking person and/or a Danish accent expert, both for the two kids and for Julianne Moore.
Did they even need the Danish angle?

EDIT: just found out that the actress who played the redheaded daughter is actually half-Swedish - no wonder she sounded Swedish!
The filmmakers must've thought "no one will be able to tell that she sounds Swedish and not Danish!"
Couldn't they have found a real Danish-American girl for the part of the daughter?

At least the Arne Jacobsen-chair was Danish!

I don't speak Swedish or Danish but the close captioning on my TV said the language was Swedish.

The daughter DID speak Swedish, that's the point.
But it's a mistake when the two kids are supposed to be half-DANISH!

Like I wrote, the filmmakers probably figured, "who cares if it isn't the right language for the character, no one will be able to tell!"
Well Danes, Norwegians and Swedes will be able to tell!

If it's about the filmmakers liking the Swedish-American actress, who played the daughter, then they should've made the mother Swedish instead of Danish, and the kids half-Swedish instead of Half-Danish.

Or, they should've gotten a Danish-American actress for the part of the daughter.

Either one - because as it stands now, it's a stupid goof - at least to 27 million Scandinavians!
