Way better production values

It has a way better looking studio, better lighting and production quality. Less dumbazz white trash chefs looking to buy an engagement ring for their g/f or take their grandma to Europe. Waaaay better looking food - not sure what it tastes like, but sure looks magazine ready most of the time unlike same blobs of schit and endless french toasts on the US version. And did I mention I'm sick and tired looking at tattoos?

Overall, I like Canada's version quite a bit more.

It does have better mood lighting, as if they were in a restaurant. The judges on Chopped Canada are slightly more constructive in their criticism--they'll explain exactly why peeling the black radishes took away from the look and feel of the salad, for example. The US-version judges often resort to emotional critiques ("I just didn't feel you needed so many ingredients", etc).

But the overall quality of the cooking on the chefs' part in Chopped Canada is noticeably lower, and I've seen a few episodes where the judges are straining to find anything good to say about the dishes presented to them. I mean, when you have a population of only 33 million, you're going to have a much smaller pool of talented chefs than the US version.

Also, Chopped Canada doesn't have Ted Allen.

Chopped Canada has all the right components to make it a worthy addition to the "Chopped" brand. The set is gorgeous, the lighting and music are great. They've stayed true to the concept, with telegenic chef judges and talented chef contestants. So with all that going for it, why am I just not feeling it?
It's gotta be the host. Where did they get this guy? There's something off-putting about him. He seems to lack the confidence and verve that this show sorely needs. And his delivery? Can he be anymore monotonous? He needs to let up off the Xanax already.
