Dick Casablancas-centric television spin-off?

Haven't they learned anything from spin offs? They rarely make it!
Taking a masterpiece like Veronica Mars and make a spin off with douchebag Dick Casablancas in the centre is going to be a waste of time, money and energy.
Maybe a lot of other Veronica Mars fans will love it, but I'm out.

This isn't your typical spin-off though. It's a fake-documentary comedy series following an OTT version of Ryan Hansen. If Party Down is anything to go by, this should be hilarious.

Dick was one of my favorite characters on VM. And the movie has reminded me how incredibly fine Ryan Hansen is...so, I would definitely watch it!

I think the movie and the kickstarter project emphaised how much of a loveable goofball he was. Out of all the kickstarter youtube shows for the bring back Veronica Mars campaign his was definately the most entertaining to watch. Loved his back flip.

the problem with his character is that they tried to retcon him into a loveable goofball but the earlier episodes had him clearly portrayed as being much worse. not only did he attempt to drug his girlfriend at a party he also encouraged his brother to commit rape on an unconscious girl

I also read that it will be a web series-- not a full-length tv show. Seriously, Ryan Hanson is hilarious in Party Down and Veronica Mars. This should be awesome.

As an avid watcher and huge fan, I would love to see anything even remotely related to VM... Better than nothing. :)

I think you missed the genre here. it's a fake documentary with an over the top version of Ryan Hansen trying to get a spin off. They're examining and poking fun at spin offs. Dick as a Private Investigator say what? Can Dick even spell Private Investigator? No, his character would be more likely to have a spin off about being a date rapist. He's basically the primary antagonist of Veronica Mars lol. Hints the comedy here.

Cynthia, it's not a real series/spinoff. It's a spoof featuring all of the actors from the show making fun of themselves. It's actually hilarious.

It's a joke. You're supposed to go into it with a lighthearted attitude. It's funny and worth the time with a sense of humor.

And I can think of plenty of spin-offs that were successful.
