This is the best part I've ever seen Louie play. Louie has such an amazing humor with lightning quick jokes. Watching him do what seemed like improv was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Louie as a woman but then he acted the part so fantastically. I loved the show and I hope we see a lot more Louie.

This show is gunna be great.
I thought he did very well as the mother and saw nothing to guffaw and roll around on the ground over. He actually looked like an older lady and he was somewhat amusing, but he did nothing at all outrageous to warrant hee-hawing like a donkey.

Louie Anderson is hilarious in this. He's the best part of the show for sure. Playing the role straight makes it so funny. The show would be better as a binge instead of a weekly serious though.

I wonder how much he improvs because there are lines that sound like it but you know had to be in the script.
Yeah, he / she is the best character in the show. Especially the random lines about curly fries and having to deal with crazy people.

I instantly started wondering how they make curly fries the second they were mentioned and thought it was funny that the episode ended with the characters wondering the same thing as me. I ended up googling it and found a bunch of websites selling various variations of curly fry cutters that worked in different ways. What they all had in common was that some kind of knife would rotate around in circles within the potato, creating spiral-shaped fries.

shareHands down, Louie Anderson is the best part about the show, precisely because he plays the role straight (as someone mentioned). He did SUCH a good job of this in the pilot, that I honestly didn't realize who it was until I saw the cast list. He deserves a Golden Globe nomination for this.

when I saw louie as the mom, and the way he plays it straight like it's not at all weird, it goddamn broke me. absolutely loved every second of it. the show is very weird generally but also quite original, hope it's around for a while. in some scenes it feels like an experiment, "what if david lynch would produce a comedy?" but it works great! reminded me a bit of the spoils of babylon, but a litlle more subtle
shareI think the thing that makes this so remarkable (his performance) is that I usually have to wait till the episode is over before it dawns on me that a man is playing that part. He has taken what could have been a caricature and made it the most fascinating character in the show.

That's exactly how I feel. You never think about the part being played by a man. It's a character and as you say, the most fascinating character in the show.
It's so rare for me to be awed by a performance or character but Louie as Mrs.Baskets is jaw dropping amazing.
