Christina Long.

Her and Kacie Woody's stories and murders were just sad. :(

I don't remember Kacie's story but Cristina's is really sad. I just finished watching it on demand and I was just sick when they said they found her body in that sewer, especially in the condition they found her... God how horrid. I feel so bad for the aunt because she really loved that girl and honestly wanted to save her from the rough upbringing.

You really should see the Kacie Woody episode, "Age, Sex, Location." It's absolutely heartbreaking.

So sad. And her poor aunt--she loved her so much and had done such a good job of showing her love, and care, and all the things her own parents hadn't.

I agree. Kacie's story is the one that most affected me, but this is right up there.

The situations are different but I believe Christina Long was just as naive as Kacie Woody. Yes Christina met up with grown men for sex but I believe it was really a call for help. She was young and had a troubled upbringing. Even though her aunt gave her a stable home it didn't change the issues she had. These guys probably told her things that made her smile. I don't think she really knew what she was getting into.

As for Kacie Woody, I would say the only differences were that she wasn't trying to meet up with anyone and that she had been abducted from her house by somebody who she thought was her friend. I think if Christina didn't meet up with these guys willingly I think they would have found her, just like with Kacie. There were many smiltiarties.

I see the points you're making, killer_queen229, and pretty much agree. Both girls were certainly naive and trusting, and neither of them deserved what happened to them. But Kacie seems more innocent, to me, because she was keeping it all virtual, with no actual meetings in real life. Yes, she stupidly gave out her address to the boy (the REAL boy) who lived in Georgia(?) (it's been a while since I've watched), but she wasn't hooking up with any of her online friends in real life. I don't want to make it sound like I'm blaming Christina, you know, blaming the victim, because I really don't mean it like that.

I don't think Kacie was trying to meet up with anyone. I think she just thought that having somebody call you and mailing you was not the same as actually meeting up. As for Christina, I think her being sexual with these men probably made her feel better and probably helped her forget her problems. Like that detective said, these guys knew her age and didn't care. Her and Kacie were grossly taken advantage of.

What makes me saddest about Christina's story is that she had such a loving aunt, and if she had gone to her aunt and talked about what was bothering her, perhaps she wouldn't have sought male attention online. You just know that the aunt would've listened and tried to help.

I do understand what you are saying and there are kids who CAN go to adults and talk about this or that. But I think most kids, and I was one of those, I couldn't have talked to an adult like that. I just didn't have the maturity to. I'll give you an example .... when I was in high school I came down with a case of hemmorhoids (sp?) and I wanted to tell my mother so bad but I was embarrassed to. So I just suffered with it. Stuff like that is what I'm talking about.

reply

I know exactly what you mean, catlover11! For me, it wasn't a lack of maturity--quite the opposite, actually--but I was completely unable to speak to my mother about important, personal things. But that's because of what our relationship was like, and the way she was, i.e., her feelings about sex, or anything related to sex, being a terrible, bad, dirty thing. In the case of Christina, it seems like her aunt was open and willing to listen in a nonjudgmental way. Of course, I realize we aren't being given all the facts, and certainly NONE from Christina herself, so we can't know if Christina would've been comfortable approaching her with sexual issues.

BTW, your hemorrhoid story made me chuckle. 

right! I can chuckle myself now 45 years later !! But at the time, not. Do you know the difference between major and minor surgery. Minor surgery is any surgery YOU are having; major surgery is any surgery I am having.!
