Wouldn't this happen?

There is a provision in law that is very rarely used but it DOES exist called NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF TEMPORARY INSANITY. In a situation like this where zombies are "cured" and go back to being regular people wouldn't there have to be some kind of blanket amnesty, basically apply that law to ALL infected people because it would be pointless to put them on trial for what they did while they were zombies.

Basically the same law would have to apply in the 3rd remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers since in that story instead of being killed and replaced by the alien pods they are just taken over.

So if they are legally innocent why hate them?

Pretty sure that being legally innocent doesn't help with stigmatized public image - especially when you happened to be eating other people's brains and such :) I can imagine you'll have to deal with hate crimes and all kinds of BS - the movie definitely has an interesting premise!
