Honest comparison : the Tattooist vs Te Blue Elephant

I have just seen it today because I like Ahmed Murad 's controversial novels ...My friend who attended it with me read both the novel and watched "The Tattooist " He didn't like the novel and consequently the film...But he admitted it had only one aspect of similarity Also the historical incident which the Blue Elephant is based on is completely true and mentioned in El-Gaberty book ..The theme itself is much "Oriental" and falls into the Middle Eastern taste perfectly ...I think any non - Middle Eastern would be amazed by the dreamy theme ...Still wants to see The Tattooist to give an honest comparison ...Anyone have seen both ?

I can see why people can find similarities but there can't be a comparison, just imo. A huge difference, even in the portrayal of both stories, but what I would say is that if you haven't seen the tattooist then you are missing out! You will find certain similarities in very certain aspects of the story but no way can they both be compared.....again that is just my view
