Gay Marriage With Baby Surrogate in 1981?

No offense to the actors playing Annie's dads, but based on their respective ages listed in IMDB, they would have been in their teens at the time the surrogate was impregnated. It's just a bit distracting since the actors playing the dads really don't look any older than their true-to-life ages.

not to mention, how many gay men couples back in 1981 had surrogates?

It was probably rare but not a crazy concept. A couple I know had gotten a surrogate back then, but they eventually backed out of the deal because the surrogate wanted to have sex with them in order to get impregnated. They thought that was weird (rightfully so) so they never went through with it.

Agenda strikes again.

What agenda?
Am I missing something???????

Yeah that came out of nowhere and the whole interracial gay couple thing was already done on glee.
Interracial black/white gay couples aren't even all that common- even less in the 80s.

Here's what I'm thinking: let Annie's parents be a traditional husband/wife couple. If the show's creators wanted to have a gay couple, how about the "overweight" friend (sorry can't remember the character's name) be gay, and have him go through a perpetual divorce from his husband. Since gay marriage is such a hot topic, there could be some comedy gleaned from showcasing a divorcing gay couple.

NO NO NO. Married gay couples are PERFECT, and NEVER have ANY problems. Don't you know that? Didn't get the memo from Hollywood?

Alright, we get it, you're not ready to leave your closet!

Considering there are you know, like 3 gay married couples in the TV universe, it's kind of hard to make them a mess in comparison to the 100s of straight married couples on TV.

Cam & Mitchell - Modern Family. To call them perfect is laughable. They have issues, just like the other couples on the show. Actually, it should say something that their adopted daughter is somewhat of a sociopath on the show as well.

Marry Me - Gay dads. In what way is their marriage "perfect"? They have minimal screen time and normally it's some stereotypical queen s*^t and has nothing to do with their relationship. Actually in a previous episode they almost broke up. ALSO, they aren't married on the show, they just got engaged so again, your "facts" are skewed based on your idiotic bias.

I like that David Caspe is inclusive on his shows. This is nit-picking, but it kind of goes to your point (about stereotypical queen s**t): It drives me a little nuts that the costume designer always has the two dads with sweaters draped over their shoulders, something that's historically meant to telegraph that a character is gay. It's not even something you see anymore, really.

(I know that is the lamest comment ever on IMDB, but I can't help it.)

Right, and the whole dumb blonde thing was already done on a TV show in the '40s, and once something's been done, you're not supposed to do it again.

So what's your point that it's been done on Glee - do you think everything on TV is only supposed to be done once? Given that that's obviously not the case, it makes it sound like you're bigoted.

Also, there was a wacky zany girl on a TV show in the '80s, so we all need to get together and come up with suggestions about what they should do with Casey Wilson's character instead, since they can't do that twice.

Not true----there have always been interracial gay couples, just like there have always been interracial couples----they just weren't really well depicted as the norm onscreen and on TV until about the last couple of decades or so. Just because you're never seen any dosen't mean that they don't exist.
