Mannix and the Daisy deal (spoiler)

I don't get why Mannix would hear out Daisy. He initially risked getting shot in the back by Warren for doing so and had nothing to gain unless she had a cure for bleeding out. To me, it was not believable even when Warren did not have any bullets remaining. It only served to let QT insert another one of his mythical stories into his movie. This time the myth of 15 gang members for which he may have left certain audience members wondering what would happen next if they did exist.

I think maybe Mannix was intent on shooting her soon, due to her being a conspirator in the poisoning and him not being sure he had long to live. With that in mind, being the Sheriff, perhaps he might feel it sporting/proper to hear Daisy's last and best case for her own survival.

Based on the sly look Mannix gives Warren, I'd say Mannix never intended to take Daisy's deal. He was just pretending to entertain the notion to freak out Warren.

In the end, it was the only "hateful" thing Mannix really did, which is why I maintain that Jody is the surprise "Hateful Eighth" and Mannix is the "non-hateful red-herring."

He turned out to be a fairly straight up guy who'd been telling the truth, and just happened to have been on the "wrong side" of the war with his father.

I'm speculating, but I'd guess that Mannix only wanted to "stick it" to Warren as payback for Smithers.

Good thought on Mannix. He may have been telling the truth but he was certainly a hateful person given his dialogue in the coach. Whether he redeemed himself in the end is up for debate but plausible.
