Stop the BS over the Peace Corps

My wife served in the Peace Corps and it is infuriating to see the claim that a character like Allie would be accepted.

The peace corps doesn't take empty headed fools, it does not even take earnest and well meaning useless people.

Peace corps takes people with background's in agriculture, forestry, health administration and health teaching, engineering.

it doesn't take ninnies like Allie

but she was stupid enough to marry a moron like u, who gets butthurt over a movie not being real life

He's going to need directions to the nearest burn unit after that comment! Damn!

maybe thats PART of the humor, maybe she is LYING about it to try to impress the guy, men lie all time in an attempt to impress women so why not the other way around? I think the fact she is LYING about qualifying for the peace corps could be PART of the story.

Or maybe she is not lying so much as a "wannabe" and she has not yet been rejected, maybe she underestimates how hard it is to get into the peace corps?

Why the nearest?

Oh, Jesus. I haven't even heard the mention of the Peace Corps since Shallow Hal. Get over it!!!

P.S. You don't seem like IMDB material

I just wasn't made for these times. (Brian Wilson)

They didnt really go trough their background enough for us to know if she was acceptable. So stop crying.

reply

If you watched the movie you would see that she in all probability lied her way in. She claimed fluency in a rare language, probably thinking it would just look good and it was what ended up getting her in.

reply

Clearly this woman has no intention of going into the Peace Corps and the movie's basic plot itself contradicts any such notion she has any such intention. Besides that the gambit is set up for ridicule and satire and not to be taken at face value
