Shirley?

Any suggestion that the 'Shirley' in the cabin is supposed to be Shirley Jackson? Here and her husband are both writers, she writes 'horror' stories...

Anyone know if this section is based on fact or anecdote?


Edit: I just looked her up and her husband's name was Stanley, same as in the film.

also, this quote from her bio which the character states in the film "Our major exports are books and children, both of which we produce in abundance."

Pretty conclusive proof then.
