Why make a period piece and not invest in the camera and sound dept?

At first I thought the bad cinematography was intentional. Boy, was I artsy fartsy for thinking that.

You have decent actors, wardrobes, and locations but you couldn't invest in a better camera or sound designer? Filmmakers know it's very ballsy to tackle a period piece because of how challenging it is. From the looks of the trailer, the production looks very amateurish. The actors deserve way better framing and lines. I am so perplexed on how films like this with such a poor quality gets financed?

When you get a chance, take a look at the poster for this film. The photoshopping is lousy. The young lead actress has a beautiful complexion. Why in the world would you need to smooth out her already smooth face. She looks like she has pancake batter all over her face. It's unbelievable how something as beginner as this gets distribution.
