Thanks for posting this notice Cheryl. Christopher is having a great resurgence. Starting last year with the Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar, 10 Days in a Madhouse, the re-release of Highlander and signing on to the new Mortal Kombat and the Kickboxer sequel with Van Damme, plus a couple of other juicy projects that are not announced yet!

Christopher Lambert in talks for Mortal Kombat reboot, teases new storyline

"When the first Mortal Kombat movie came out in 1995, video game adaptations were a brand-new thing in Hollywood, with the first to hit the big screen being Super Mario Bros. in 1993, followed by Double Dragon and Street Fighter in 1994.

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who went on to helm the Resident Evil movie franchise (the sixth and final movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, is slated for a Jan. 27, 2017, release), Mortal Kombat starred Robin Shou in the role of Liu Kang, Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, Talisa Soto as Kitana, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras as Sonya Blade, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung and Highlander's Christopher Lambert as Raiden. Oh, and it also boasted one of the best movie soundtracks EVER.

In 2011, New Line announced it was working on rebooting the franchise with a new film, and just last year it was announced that Furious 7 and Aquaman helmer James Wan had been brought on board to produce the Mortal Kombat reboot, with a screenplay penned by Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series anthology) and Dave Callaham (The Expendables).

In a new interview with Loaded, Christopher Lambert -- who didn’t return for the 1997 sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation because: “I didn’t want to do it because I didn’t think the script was very good. I didn’t like it. I liked the first one” -- has opened up about the new movie, calling the first film “one of the good computer game movies. Mortal Kombat was an arcade game, a beat-’em-up, and because of that they were forced to create a story rather than simply relying on the game’s plot.”

The actor also revealed that he has been in talks to reprise the role of Raiden and that the new Mortal Kombat movie (which is in early development) would make use of inter-dimensional time travel.

“They have a great idea for the third one,” he said. “It will be very different. We are going to be travelling through time but in a very special way. So imagine characters having a battle in the middle of London and then whoosh, you smash through a window and find yourself on the hood of a New York cab.”

That sounds pretty cool, eh? Kinda like that amazing first fight sequence in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Are you looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat movie?"

"Very few movies based on video games leave people impressed but the runaway success that was Mortal Kombat was a completely different story.
Back in 1995, the popular beat ’em up made it to the big screen as Lui Kang took on Shang Tsung and over ruthless fighters in the bloody tournament. With a beautifully hammy script, some seriously entertaining fight scenes and a memorable soundtrack, the film was all that we could have wanted.
And now, Christopher Lambert has revealed that there is a third installment in the works – and it sounds deliciously bonkers."

'It Will Be Very Different': Christopher Lambert Claims ‘Mortal Kombat 3’ Is 100 Percent Happening

"Actor Christopher Lambert has popped up on the radar once again, this time informing movie audiences all over the world that they should most certainly be getting ready for another round of Mortal Kombat.

The video game adaptation was first sprung on us back in 1995, setting a precedent for how gaming can successfully make a bold transition to film. Yep, despite its questionable CGI, wildly hilarious lines and abundance of mullets, it certainly held a certain charm and continues to provide us with bizarrely enjoyable sequences like this one:"

I wrote a bigger post but it logged me off when I hit send. I just said that I never knew who Christopher Lambert was before this movie but now I have seen several of his films and I am a big fan. In this movie he is very charismatic and plays off the charming star Caroline Barry perfectly.
