Let me preface this by saying that I thought 'Russian Ark' was a great film. I am in awe of that film not just for it's technique but for its beauty and style.

So because I was a fan of that film I decided to get tickets to Francofonia at TIFF2015. Let me tell you something, this movie was the worst theatre going experience I have ever had. Completely boring and fairly uninteresting (of course, a subjective matter - but I am interested in the Louvre to some extent). This is mostly a documentary - there are few scenes that reminded me of Russian Ark but this is a very different film. You know when you were in high school and the teacher would wheel in the TV and pop on some kind of education film that would teach you about whatever. This honestly felt like one of those films... with good cinematography. Very disappointing.

I can honestly say, the trailer made this out to be brimming with excitement, beautiful art history and a side story....the reality was much different. I honestly don't remember being as bored as I was watching this. It was terrible. I've not see Russian Ark, but now I'm very weary of attempting it. This was a top 100 worst films of all-time nominee, in my book.
