'It is unclear whether the new Apes project is meant to be a new reboot or an extension of the previous film series.'

If its a continuation then probably another remake of 1968 Apes.. But if its another reboot then /who knows..? probably another remake of 68 Apes I guess (in which case - which chris as heston? - hemsworth? evans? pine? pratt?)

oh no

The last three should have been condensed into one.

You mean you want to sit thru an 8 hour movie?

What can they do with it though?

For all intents and purposes, War wasn't different from the previous one as far as story -- just another fight between humans and apes with a crazy Woody Harrelson replacing an angry Gary Oldman.

I say it's time to bring back the bomb worshiping mutants!

I'm not sure about the director choice, but I'm looking forward to more of this series. I just watched the trilogy again and each time I do, I love it a little bit more. As much as the original series was part of my cherished childhood, I feel that the newer trilogy does much better in ALL aspects.

An adult Cornelius, son of Caesar, would be a great character lead.

I hope there's no time-travel. They've already left that boat behind (apes coming from the future was not the genesis of the Dawn/Rise of apes of this new series).

And let's have no "holy bomb" analogies in this new series. That part of the original series is cornier than heck.

I dont know why I hate reboots and I consider the Mark Walburgh the first one.

I dont think it can get better because the future ones wont have Cesar.

reply

I gave up on this new bunch after the first one, but wasn't there some background stuff - TV news or something - about a space mission? I remember thinking that it might be a setup for a story like the original 1968 film with the astronauts returning after some sort of time warp or accidently protracted journey in suspended animation.

reply

Yes, in "Rise..." they mentioned a manned Mars mission. Probably these astronauts will return the sooner or later?

reply

yes, I hope so. And these Martians then come back and find the humans being apes and apes having a mighty kingdom with Soldier-Apes, religious Apes and Science Apes like in the old movies...

reply

It's still happening.

Wes Ball huh? Interesting. I did actually like the Maze Runner movies.

A new saga begins.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” picking up many years after “War for the Planet of the Apes,” starts production next month and stars Owen Teague, Freya Allen, and Peter Macon. Directed by Wes Ball, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” arrives in 2024
