why were the apes right in front of the wall?!

I don't get it, they escaped during the night, presumably they had at the very least a good few hours to get away, but then when the colonel's soldiers started shooting at the other army's helicopters, it turned out that the apes were LITERALLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FRIGGIN' GATES!

I couldn't believe the sheer stupidity of that scene in the script!

Half of this movie is the best CGI talking animals ever made. The other half is stupidity.

I have to say though, writing like that does make me wonder whom they are writing for. Did they really think we wouldn't notice??

I think this movie is a victim CGI-fest syndrome.

It's like in most martial arts movies where everything revolves around "let's have a fight scene here, and here, and also between these guys, oh and we need a 1 vs many, also add a girlfight here" then try to fit the story (writing) into the elaborate fight scenes already decided (or even shot) beforehand.

This one is doing the same thing but for CGI shots. The story is basically made up to make way for the CGI scenes first, everything else second. Logic be damned.
