What's up with the beginning?

The beginning of this episode shows a little girl walking along a path decorated with all kinds of Halloween stuff then it switches to some lady making popcorn listening to the weather and she hears a Thump Thump on her door and when she looks out it's that girl placing her bloody hand on the window and smearing it as she drops down. What in the hell does that have to do with the rest of the episode?
