Why were all meals shown eaten in small kitchen?

Why were all meals shown eaten in small, cramped kitchen in this movie when near the end of "Mas negro que la noche" (2014), in one scene we catch a quick glimpse of a separate dining room with its own dining table? In many old horror films there are scenes set in dining rooms in old, gloomy mansions but not in this one. I have never been fortunate enough to live in a home with a separate dining room, but always enjoy seeing dining room scenes in movies no matter the genre of the film I'm watching. In any case, there was enough I liked in this movie to give it a rating of 6/10.

Larger dining rooms are used for special events, like fancy dinners, etc. I agree with your rating.
