Then I dont understand why you fail to see one common similarity .... both dug for years to achieve their objective ...... not saying movies are similar but sure cant neglect this uncanny similarity .....

Looking at the trailer, I doubt I concur to your thought. I will have to watch the film to be more clear. But yes, prima facie, I think the films are poles apart; not even a similar setting. IMO, the digging cannot be cited as a similarity.

Pardon my ignorance but I thought the football field(s) reference in the movie (SR)was about the total distance he crawled through the sewerage pipes...wasn't it? Not about the total length he dug I suppose..?

Bro if jus digging holes makes the movie similar than wot bout THE GREAT ESCAPE. Manjhi is based on a real life incident whereas shawshank was based on Stephen kings novel. Shawshank is an institute (how to make make movies about faith, friendship, hope n redemption) whereas Manjhi is an inspiration.
