Anyone else dreading this?

I hope the makers of the film prove me wrong. I have no opinion on the choice of actor to play Byomkesh but he has a tough job to follow in the footsteps of many actors who played him very well. Like actors who play Sherlock Holmes, comparisons with people who came before are inevitable.

Forget about Robery Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch, he can't even come to Rajit Kapur who played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi in 1993 TV adaptation of the same name.

The Wise One.

reply

Agree, both TV series adaptations were very good (the Hindi one you mention and the Bengali one with Sudip Mukherjee as Byomkesh)...

Lol, no RDJ's Sherlock's really bad. Generic Guy Ritchie stuff that's not Sherlock.

reply

Why is the title changed from 'Bakshi' to 'Bakshy'?

reply

might be a numerology thingy, you shouldn't be surprised even if it was Bakkkshy

reply

According to the Director, "i" is way too thin so he replaced i with y, which according to him is much stronger.

reply

Not really. The trailers look fantastic, Dibakar Banerjee is a proven filmmaker and seriously, people should get over the 2 decade old Rajit Kapur series.

reply

I agree-- I take back what I say; the trailer looks very promising.

Also, interested to see the new ETV Bangla TV series if it ever come out with subs.

reply

The trailer doesnt look very promising to me. I am guessing they are doing exactly what Robert's Sherlock Holmes did, that is to turn this brilliant minds from the books into action artists. I hated Sherlock Holmes for it, if only they didnt name it Sherlock Holmes then the movie would have been great.

Though anyways its Byomkesh bakshi afterall, so going to watch it in 3 hours.....

reply

I just watched it- it's very good. And that actor sushant Singh has nailed the part!
