Are Mal and Ben Engaged?

Admittedly, on the surface the question would appear facetious. I can just hear people now: “They’re just kids!”

But the question is honestly asked, and is done so because of the characters’ parents/universe.

Ben gives Mal a ring. And the parents for most of these ‘descendants’ were themselves teenagers when they got married.

Ariel, Aurora, Belle, etc, they were all 16 and under when they went off and got hitched. In Snow White’s case, the character is 14 when she goes off to marry her prince at the end of her movie.

If a 16 year old were considered old enough to rule a kingdom/empire, surely one would also be considered old enough to wed. Especially when the previous generation were of the same age when they were espoused.

Now that I think about it, for the entire duration of the Aladdin animated series, he and Jasmine were technically engaged.
