Yes, it was Dove Cameron's voice (Mal). Basically MOST Disney stars also JUST happen to be singers.

Every time she spoke, I kept picturing Maddie from "Liv & Maddie" since she uses her own voice for Maddie and a fake one for Liv. That just didn't sit well for me since it makes Dove appear she's only capable of doing two different voices, and Liv's isn't exactly pleasant. While I'm also on the issue, she also has one of those *very* distinct faces, so another strike against her for me why it's hard to cast her in different roles. It's not that I have anything against Dove Cameron (she could be a wonderful person for all I know), but I thought the casting decision for her as Mal was a very, very poor one.

Maddie isn't her natural voice. Her natural voice is a high pitched Maddie, but not has high as Livs voice check her interviews. Mal did sound kinda like Maddie. She's really good at fitting a voice to a character
