Anyone see broadchruch

i have been skimming through it on netflix and as far as i can tell its shot for shot word for word the same show.

The ending is a bit different and the subplot of the search in the woods, the crazy hiker and tennants daughter seem to be left out but everything else.

for anyone who has seen both shows. Do you think i can get away with watching season 2 of broadchruch while only seeing gracepoint?

reply

As long as you realize the twist was different at the end of Gracepoint, I don't see why not.

reply

I'd watch season one, It;s better than Gracepoint

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.

broadchurch has been renewed for a third series.such a great show.

reply

Yes and I just finished S1E8 tonight. I tell you what, I watched the first episode of Gracepoint after I saw the first 5 of Broadchurch and I will not watch another Gracepoint episode.

The acting the directing...its an utter joke compared to BC. I couldnt even completely finish the 1st episode of GP. It just felt so cheesy and poorly done.

I tell you one thing, I never knew about BBC shows until recently and I have found that the quality and acting has been much better than I see from a lot of American tv crap of similar genres.

If you havent seen Broadchurch yet you need to. Its so well done and soo much better than Gracepoint. If you havent finished GP yet, I wouldnt even bother.

It's not from the BBC. It's ITV

In US, all UK tv appears under BBC America, which I think is a commercial channel...

I have seen Broadchurch and wasn't particularly impressed by it. It was ok but not great. I'm looking forward to watching Gracepoint to see if it's any better.

The acting and cinematography .. just.. INFINITELY better in Broadchurch.

It's actually pretty interesting since GP is indeed a shot-for-shot, scene-for-scene, line-for-line duplicate, just how vastly inferior American casting really is.

In the UK, casting directors go with talent over beauty and popularity. They actually give a *beep* about what their show is going to come out like, rather than just go with the most popular, young, thin, beauty of the year. The actresses often will be a little plump, disheveled, older than what we are used to in the US.

The end result is show with characters that feel like they might actually exist in the real world, and actors who know their *beep*

Broadchurch trumps GP by 1 million percent.

I couldn't agree more. The US goes for thin/blonde over talent constantly and sometimes at the complete ruin of the show.

reply

You literally wrote exactly what I was going to reply with. Broadchurch is amazing and I couldn't get through half the first episode of Gracepoint. I'm converting to BBC!

reply

I suggest you start from season 1 of broadchurch. Season 2 is different and you may get confused in situations if you don't start from the beginning.

reply

Gracepoint is basically a rehash of Broadchurch season 1 except for the twist ending that wasn't present at the end of Broadchurch. You will probably be a bit confused because certain characters have different names in both shows.

If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now.-Loki (Marvel's Avengers)

Broadchurch is much better. The original and the best.

reply

One simple undeniable reason that broadchurch is far superior than gracepoint.... Olivia Colman

reply

Absolutely - Coleman and Tennant plus the beautiful setting and fantastic photography equal a brilliant and addicting show.

reply

Except that Broadchurch is far superior in every way and on every level.
