Reasons to remake: the original is dated or isn't in English

The original, Broadchurch, is from 2013....and in ENGLISH!

What the *beep*...I'm offended this remake exist for no justifiable reason.

Then don't watch it. The actors on this show worked hard so other people can enjoy it.

If you are so offended by it, then where is your script for the next big hit?

I totally agree!! Plus this version is so inferior to the original. I don't understand why they needed to remake Broadchurch. Episode 1 is even an EXACT replica of Ep 1 of Broadchurch. Shot by shot and word by word. What's the point?

After watching all of "Broadchurch" I watched episode one of "Gracepoint" and was surprised that it was mostly a shot-for-shot remake of the UK version. I expected the series' makers to give the basic story their own interpretation and add something new, but it was only a somewhat weaker copy. With the exception of Tennant (doing an American accent), the cast is all different, and the actors, particularly the one playing Ellie, do not have the charisma of the UK version's originals. It was a bit disappointing, but I'll stick with it to the end just to see if it gets more interesting.

You're forgetting that Hollywood has another reason to remake: it's cheaper. (And it shows.)
