Storywise, you're correct. Stylistically, it appears to lift from Primer. At least that's the way the trailer portrays it and why many are making that point. I came to see if it was the same director even though I clearly understood it was a different story.

Flatliners isn't about reanimating the dead. It's about "killing" oneself for a few miniues to see what's on the "otherside." Superficially they seem similar but in actuality they're nothing alike.
Reanimation is just a fancy word for reviving or resurrecting, essentially. Of course, I'm basing this off the trailer and the limited info that's out there about this film, but I suspect this movie will deal with the idea of what transformation really takes place if we're brought back from the other side and does something come back with us.
Anyway, you're essentially splitting hairs, you can see the story's pretty much the same, the main difference is the modus operandi, so in this sense they're delving more into the pseudo-science aspect of it, which like plumlogan mentions is largely the style they're employing, more so than deviating from the basic premise of examining life after death or life after life, depending on how you look at it.
