Pretty terrible movie

Normally I'd give it a score or something but I'm not gonna bother. I really just want my time back. The concept and everything is fine, but the combined awfulness of the acting and science really drag this movie under. It's rough to take every low budget science scifi movie and compare it to Primer but that's life. Primer exists and the standard is set. Not for quality this isn't about quality. Primer set the standard for design. We as the internet generation are generally too smart to forgive flaws in research and design. Primer got away with being a low budget crappy science-fi movie because the math is solid and the maguffin is really well presented.

The first problem with this film is that maguffin is stupid, badly presented and actually outdated in the terrible ending. The second is the acting is just flat out atrocious(get it!!? reference!). The dialog between the actors borders on nonsensical. No one acts like that.

Anyway the idea is that they're supposed to be testing a machine that brings people back to life, but there's tension because they only have so many tries. They don't ever try to explain even in vague terms how it works or why the limits or anything and it never appears on screen and the subjects are literally just put on a table, they flip the switch and it just works or it doesn't. There's nothing to even remotely hold your interest or curiosity and again the acting is so bad unless you're planning to finish it "just because" it's really painful to get through.

I could run through the detailed plot of the film but it was just dumb. Really really dumb. If the makers read this just fyi if you're going make a science-fi film and you can't speak to the science you should focus on the humanity of it. You know the arguments on ethics and the afterlife or metaphysical perspectives. There's none of that here. I sat through the whole thing trying to find something I could defend about the film. It was just boring and low brow through and through. Avoid at all costs.

what you missed *spoilers*
pretend scientists bring back a bunny and are supposed to be happy but one wants to force them to try people so he drowns himself in the bathtub. They bring him back but bringing him back to life wipes his memory so it's a big failure. yeah thats the big ending. You're scratching your head right now going. "That's retarded there's gotta be more! You're just being a jerk.". Nope seriously, thats it. whole movie. Also it's stupid because babies don't have fine motor skills and he does right away. He's just dumb. Like the movie.

Can you summarize your beloved Primer now and see how it holds up to compressing everything to basic storyline? 

I enjoyed it more than typical hollywood fare like Iron Man or Avengers. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the acting.

My only gripe was the lack of scientific method after an attempt. They should've tested their subjects thoroughly after each attempt - successful or not.

Acting was fine. Script was pretty weak. But I imagine this was a low budget movie so they tried their best. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
