Great show!...but that "theme song"...

It's terrible. It belongs in an early 60's hootenanny bar.
So detracting from an otherwise GREAT production.

I like it; the lyrics are perfect for the drama.

Sorry shellieeyre, but that amateurish guitar is so bad and that singer is such a poor wannabe Bob Dylan, I can't listen enough to hear the lyrics.
This is a fairly sophisticated series. It deserves more.

There's no need to be sorry; I'm not sorry that I like it, nor can I make myself unlike it. We like what we like. However, it's a shame that you're too sophisticated to make yourself listen to the lyrics which I suspect is what prompted the choice of song.

I don't like the music either, and am surprised such a quality show used that artist/song for the theme. I either mute the sound or skip ahead until the actual show starts.

I know the Calder Valley, it fits in nicely.

I LOVE the theme song and opening. IMO it really highlights the artistry and realism they intend for the show.

I think the theme is great and so apt. I looked up the Youtube clip of the whole song and was most impressed, and then downloaded it from iTunes. Apparently, it was recorded at Hebden Bridge which is one of the places mentioned in "Happy Valley". I wasn't familiar with the singer, but can't see any similarity to either Bob Dylan or hootenannies. Still, everyone has different tastes and opinions.

I don't really get the "new Bob Dylan" business either; he's the new Jake Bugg as far as I can tell.

Normally not my thing, but "Trouble Town" was actually playing in Whole Foods while I was grocery shopping yesterday. I would not have noticed it if I did not watch the show, but because I do like the show I found myself singing the chorus.
