Beautifully animated

An incredible voyage into a dystopian world. Beautifully voiced and animated, it flows perfectly. Well worth seeing to capture an idea of how we value certain things in this world ahead of others to our peril.

It's a 7.5/10. It would be 8 because of the animation, but it loses half a point for being French .

As a tangent, I have stated I don't normally watch animatrd foreign films on other threads. However, my dad actually pointed this movie had gotten good reviews (and I think they're deserved despite falling asleep, which had nore to do with me just being tired than the movie itself). Anyway, my point is I was in the area of a movie theater playing this because a friend got me tickets to see Jersey Boys (live musical)in another theatre. I figured if I'm going to be in the area, might as well.

I saw it as a dystopian Tin Tin with the animation as good but not beautiful, certainly not in the way that a Studio Ghibli film is.
Also, beforehand I was wondering why it was in French and subtitled. I assume most of the cast could have just as easily produced an English language version. Having watched the film I think they got it right - it's very French and the sound of the language (of which I speak not a word) is appropriate.

Jaques Tardi, whose character designs and drawings this film uses for it's distinctive look is a legend among comics fans in France and well-versed international readers. The Luke Besson Adele Blanc-Sec film is based on one of his comics. Sorry, "graphic novels" ;)

"How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure"

I haveonly heard about this film from reading a feature on the best animated movies of 2016. I have seen the trailer and it looks very good I look forward to watching it when it comes out in the UK.

I adored this film.
It's imaginative, relevant and just so damn entertaining.
I watched it in French dub and it's a pleasure to listen to.
The visuals are great without feeling like 2D cardboards moving.
Wouldn't hesitate to watch it again.
