Which awards can it be nominated/win?

Movies released in summer generally don't rack up a ton of nominations, but I could see this movie getting some strong word of mouth.

I think it has a decent chance of pulling in awards for Best Actor (Segel) and Adapted Screenplay. Not Oscars, but maybe some of the smaller award shows.

Anyway, I enjoyed the film quite a bit. My review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y6geJ7PZKs

Eh. I'll bet he gets an Oscar nom for best actor, but I think that's all the attention the oscars are going to give this film

reply

I don't think segel's performance is the type the academy usually goes for. Its best chance is probably adapted screenplay.

reply

I thought Segal was incredible but Oscar voters have a very short memory. August might be too early to be nominated. I'd put my money on Adapted Screenplay, if anything.

reply

The film will get at least one Oscar nomination.

Segel will probably get a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (I wouldn't call The End of the Tour a comedy or musical but I'm sure the awards shows will put the film into that category, especially since it involves Rolling Stone (a music magazine) and the film has some comedic elements)

Watched it yesterday. A good movie but I don't think it deserves any nominations maybe adapted screenplay and that's it.

reply

Agreed. I watched it last night and gave it a 7. Jason's acting may get some attention, but besides that and the mentioned screenplay adaption, I don't see much else.

It has got me interested in the book, but I haven't read fiction in years, and a 1,000 pager is a tall order for me.

If it was such a great book, I wonder why it hasn't been made into a movie yet.

i haven't read it but from what i've heard from friends i understand it's an incredibly dense, complex work making it all but unfilmable.

Segel is being pushed for Best Supporting Actor, so he has a very strong chance of getting nominated and even winning.

reply

No,I actually agree with those noms...and that is the Oscars. It is very celebrated and if there are ten nominees for best picture it could get one. And it´s best..... LEADING actor, not actor. You´re not a member of Boston film critics society, are ya? The oscars,SAG and BAFTA get that it´s plain wrong and condescending to say best actor,as if that category on some level is heavier or more worth then supporting, like one is an ac-tor and the other is a retarded extra. So...leading. Supporting...now you know.

reply

the Oscar is called Best Actor.

reply

It´s called best leading actor.
