this film & HOUSEBOUND are 2 excellent New Zealand made horror/comedies!

WHAT WE DO is a straight up comedy and it's excellent. also i highly recommend NZ made horror/comedy (dark humor) HOUSEBOUND...

it's one of my top films of 2014. it's the perfect blend of horror and comedy (in the vein of SHAWN OF THE DEAD).

I really enjoyed What We Do in the Shadows, but found Housebound very mediocre.

Yes, I was reminded by HOUSEBOUND, with the down-to-earth "Kiwiness" of the humour (see it before the U.S. remake which will be inevitably over the top and horrible).
Also reminded me of SCARFIES, another NZ dark comedy with flatmates.

It would be difficult to be more over the top and ham-fisted with the comedy than both of these movies were. I think they are safe from any form of US remake.

This? Yes. Housebound? No.

I thought both movies were excellent! I don't think they have much in common though other than their country of origin. I am also from the U.S. and I certainly hope that Hollywood never makes a remake of either film. It's pretty rare that Hollywood produces a "foreign film" remake that is any better than the original, especially when it comes to horror ("The Ring" being a rare exception) or comedy films (of which absolutely nothing comes to mind.)

I hate to burst any bubbles but the US remake of Housebound was confirmed to be going ahead a year ago:

We can only pray they'll never dream of touching WWDITS aswell.

Yessss! Night-time.

I couldn't really get into Housebound, but What We Do in the Shadows is one of my favorite comedies of recent memory. It's very simple humor, it doesn't try hard at all and it's hilarious. Totally worthy of the likes of Braindead and Meet the Feebles.
