The Mother in Law's Pregnancy....Spoilers

Maybe i missed something, but what would be the step moms motivation to lie to will about the paternity of the baby. I am not one to believe any woman like her would not have thought to use protection if you're going to cheat. Actually he should have known better himself. It's getting kinda hard to swallow watching to people act like teens while doing this kind of stuff. I could swallow one being stupid but a Dr. and a cheating wife of a doctor is just so unlikely.

She's his stepmother.

reply

So can ou think of any reason why she would be lying?

reply

To cause trouble between Will & his father??

reply

I don't think she's lying. She and her husband had been trying for years after the first daughter to have another child but didn't get pregnant. Then she sleeps with Will and gets pregnant. She did the math. I think it's his and paternity later will prove it. Will's screwed (no pun intended).

The ability to always see the worst in people and situations is often a hiding place for fear.

reply

Who said they were trying for years? Will's dad?

reply

Chinless, the father "implied" that they were trying, because he said something to that effect. I can't remember the exact words so I might have to re-watch that part, but the implication was definitely there.

Not sure how paternity would prove he was the father because the other likely father is his own father so the DNA is going to be enough of a match to force either one to make child support payments.

reply

Just binged watched the show, my take was the Dad was having the problem with conception not the wife. But we will never ever know.

reply

How could she know for sure who the father was unless she is not having any sex at all with Will's dad.

reply

U can't believe two adults having unprotected sex? Haha. He does nothing but party and do drugs. Why wouldn't the "Doctor" do something that stupid. Did I miss the episode where he went to church and confession? Ummmm no, it's totally believable

reply

He was sober as I remember in that scene, But none the less I said it is unlikely neither of them would be that turned on not to think of the fallout. It's not unbelievable just unlikely they would not have thought of it. Especially her.

Rush was on hydrocodone and had a drink with his stepmom, who was already drunk and withdrawing from amphetamines. For what it's worth...

What makes you think Corinne lied about her pregnancy? There is no protection that is 100% safe. Besides, Will's father commented that they did not think it was possible for her to get pregnant, which indicates that she is infertile to a certain degree. While I'm confused about her not using a condom with somone with his lifestyle, I get that when she found out she was pregant, she calculated when it did happened and found it to be the time when she was doing it with Will. Since his father seems to be at ease with her pregnancy, they seem to have done it aswell, otherwise he would suspect her infidelity. Doctors tend to have a clue about how the body works and are smart enough to calculate on their own.

You'd be surprised at how many grown ups act out like teenagers.

I think she may feel it could be either of them. The husband will never really know if he is the grand daddy or the father, actually she won't/might not be able to tell either, since they have the same DNA. If there is a paternity test it may not reveal which one it is, so her secret is safe, that is if the child is the sons. They could do a test involving a match to the other child but I would doubt the husband would suspect his own son. One twist to this whole thing... it is she and her husband planned the whole thing to get another child.
