My hatred for Hollywood has reached a new level.

This movie may not be religious, but as a Christian only another christian could understand just how sacred this story is.
Did it have to be Noah's Ark? Did they just use that one boat story because it was the most popular out of all of them?

The last Noah movie, the director claimed he wanted to put his own spin to the story at hand, like clash of the Titans. Neither of those movies turned out good, and the simple story, whether we know it or not (which is ironic because most people still don't get the point of that story) would've been better than the weird, complicated, rock-transformers version.

So this movie looks bad, not because of the characters, not because of the plot, but because the story happens after an event that's a size worse than 9/11 and titanic and so many other natural disasters, and the fact that people are now using settings in Bible-based stories to make a movie about another Disney movie.

Whether or not you see this event as history, the story's still being disrespected on some level, whether it's one you'd understand or not.

Feel free to agree or disagree, but either way I stand by what I said.

Did you enjoy Evan Almighty?

reply

that's one of those few exceptions, but yeah I enjoyed it for the most part.

reply

Even though it was a blatant pi@@ take?

reply

Did you enjoy "Life of Brian"?

Kindly imagine a hysterically witty board signature here.

reply

Oh you're another one of those. "The book was better" guys

reply

Lulz!

reply

Oh EVAN Almighty! That was okay, not that great.

I AM one of those people who are for the book! Only this book goes beyond history for me and millions of others! So yeah, I'd rather go by the book if I were these guys.

reply

For the win!

reply

But why do you take it out on poor Hollywood? This is a German/Belgian/Luxembourgian/Irish co-production. Hollywood has nothing to do with it.

reply

well filmmakers in general then, i guess.
But i guess it's fine now, seeing that the movie got pretty poor reviews to it.

reply

That's dangerous, non Christian thinking. You're glad someone is doing poorly? Better head to confession.

The story of Noah is well known in popular culture. It has been done in Hollywood a number of times, and for many years it has been used to churn out books, cartoons, and toys. This animated film simply uses it as the backdrop for its little story. There's nothing wrong with it at all.

Actually, EOne (the U.S. distributor who just dropped this on Google Play for free) created a Christian connection -- by replacing Tara Flynn as the voice of Hazel with... Amy Grant. They also brought in Martin Sheen as the Lion and Chris Evans as Stayput; AFAICT the other original English voiceovers remain.

reply

Strangely, Tara Flynn is still listed at Google Play as one of the film's stars even though her role appears to have been completely replaced...

Hey, ever read the Epic of Gilgamesh?

reply

Every culture has a flood story, dude. EoG is nothing unique.

Besides, it's mostly about a man trying to win immortality anyway.

reply

Dear Providenceyaway - I sincerely hope this movie pissed you off. Sincerely, every rational person in the world.

reply

dear not rational person, lay off the drugs, sincerely the Zebra.

reply

"...lay off the drugs, sincerely the Zebra."? That come-back was even more moronic than your original comment. I wonder what mentally deluded nonsense you'll come up next. This might go from mildly-disgruntled-bible-thumper-to-completely-insane-psycho-imbecile kind of funny. Say something else...
