Clear disrespect to the source material and the fan base

Just watched this movie and holy crap was it clear that the creators of this movie did not care about the source material at all because what ever the hell I just watched was not Allegiant. As a fan of the books I feel insulted and offended for Veronica Roth. Yes the book wasn't great but that doesn't give the creators the right to almost completely change story. F- this movie!

I have read all of them. Twice. Some of them, three times.

Believe it or not, it's possible to love the books AND the movies.

I agree with you for sure. The HP films were VERY well done. I do think that the changes they made to the series towards the end were pointless and took away from the greatness of the book series, but that doesn't mean they weren't good movies. You really do have to look at them separately.

Actually once they BUY the rights from the author, they can do it. Anyway, the source material is trash, so I guess it turned out to be pretty difficult.

reply

Not true. It all depends on what kind of deal you negotiate with the buyers. Lots of authors have made sure when they sell the movie rights that they get creative input or even writing the script. I guess she was more horny for the big bucks then making sure here source material was used as she would want it.

reply

Veronica insulted and offended her readers. Book readers hated that book and the box office shows it.

reply

Totally agree jarn2004.

I didn't even want to see the movies because the last book was so terrible, it ruined the whole series for me.

What did people do before IMDB???

Just starting to read the books. In the collection I bought there is actually another book, more like a prequel to the others, but was apparently written (or released after the other books) but it is called "Four" and is from his POV and his choosing ceremony and how he came to choose Dauntless & about the abuse from Marcus. It also jumps to some Divergent stuff and meeting Tris, but it contains more about the others who choose Dauntless too and how his name came to be Four (he didn't choose it, his testers did) I'm only about a third of the way through, but jumped ahead to read bits and pieces

So there are some things that stay true to the books, but others not. They left out things from the final film of Mockingjay which I wish was left in, so we can't all be satisfied when it strays from the books

I read the books a few years ago and thought they were ok. I read The Hunger Games first and really liked those and found these not up to the level. The first two movies were enjoyable...

(Spoilers) But when I watched this movie I was so Lost. Either I didn't remember the book very well at all or they changed a ton. I thought they left the community right away, but was there for a while in the movie. And what about the gas and stuff in the movie, didn't that happen more at the end of the book and ended differently. What about the guy showing Tris what was going on in the book, was that the guy that saved Four out of nowhere. And wasn't Four at the new place until the end of the book?

- Can someone remind me of the book, and what differences there were between the movie and book? Thanx!

Why are you offended for Veronica Roth?

She followed in Stephenie Meyer's footsteps: Follow the formula she laid down for writing characters and plot that appeal to teenage girls, sell the rights to a Hollywood studio, which can't be that difficult seeing that they can't make anything original anymore, then flip off your fanbase and laugh all the way to the bank!

This series had potential, and I liked the first installment.
It went downhill fast from there.

reply

yea but book is not good also ,so movie is domed from beginning

reply

I agree that the movie is completely different from the book and once I accepted that I was able to enjoy the movie. I am actually glad that it different. The ending to the book was horrible. If they hadn't changed it I probably would have thrown the movie in the trash without watching it again. Obviously Veronica Roth realized that killing Tris was a mistake and wanted to make it right for her fans.

My nephew:Donna!
Me:I've changed my name.
MN:What is it?
Me:I'm Batman.

You now there is another movie coming? There is still time to end it like that.
