The strung out hooker nurse smoking a cigarette

In one of the ER rooms was a laugh riot. As a paramedic I've been in ER's a hell of a lot and that crap would not happen. Neither have I seen a nurse who looks like she needed a fix. Bad tidings for this show so far.

Thank you for providing the information. I often wonder if things they do in TV shows is realistic. I believe you that you are speaking form real experience.

reply

It is only a TV show. I really like the character. Other than the Doctor, I think she is the next main character.

You may be right, I might be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic you are looking for!

reply

Sorry but I've never seen a nurse that acts like that. Granted I'm not always in an ER but what a crock of shît but hey if you want to see La La Land ER; there's already another episode on Demand.

reply

I'm sure there are many ERs in which you'll see nurses like that. Or doctors like that. Every hospital is different, especially in big cities. What someone sees in Kansas City might be totally different from Dallas or Miami.

reply

Well I'm from Miami and the nurse is one if the smaller failings of this inept show. As a matter of fact I was in an Er today and other hospitals on different floors and not one nurse out of several dozens even remotely looked like this tattooed trailer trash skank.

reply

While I agree that some of the drama in this show is unrealistic (which is why this show is--what's the word again?--oh yeah: FICTION) it's ridiculous to say there's not a single instance of "offbeat" or "unconventional" looking nurses ANYWHERE. That's supposition to the Nth degree.

But again, it's a fictional show, so they can do what they want, and as long as it comes across as believable, it's perfectly acceptable. (After all, there's a hit show about dead people trudging around eating their friends and neighbors.)

I personally found this show to be intriguing and entertaining, and will definitely watch further. Apparently you choose to adhere to shows which represent strict, exact realism, which of course is your right. If you manage to find such a show, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm in Chicago. There is a nursing school near to where I work. The nurse in the show would not stand out among those students. So I would agree with the poster who said every city is different.

Saying things like "I'm sure" is speculation. Do not confuse speculation with facts. It is okay to speculate but it must be represented as speculation, not facts.

What about the other poster, larosat (?), did you give her (I assume it's a her) the same admonition about facts? She has been in an ER (or two) and has presented her experience... but her facts apply to only the hospital(s) with which she's familiar--and mainly the ERs, apparently excluding the entire REST of the hospital. Yet she has extrapolated that experience to decree that NO hospital ANYWHERE in the country employs personnel like the nurse in question.

Talk about speculation.....

reply

I'm a he and I seriously doubt one would act like and look like this one. ABD I've been doing this for nearly twenty years and have been in dozens and dozens if hospitals. No one even comes close. This is Hollywood miscasting.

reply

slackersmom, who is the other poster that has been in an ER? I do not see who that is.

Also, please try to be accurate. You are saying that larosat admonished about facts but I think it was me.

reply

Yeah, I don't appreciate the "bad girl/rebel" set up. I doubt a nurse would jeopardize her career for a smoke on the floor. Then to follow up with yelling at the abused woman...yeah, that works. So far she's a cliche and it's not compelling.

reply

I think what made the actions particularly glaring was due to the actor. She is terribly miscast as a bad ass nurse. She has the right look but doesn't have the acting chops to pull it off.

reply

I would think that the ER part of a hospital has the most nerve wrecking occurances. The doctors and nurses work long hours under tough conditions. Dog things to relieve tension can be expected.

You may be right, I might be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic you are looking for!

reply

Actually I saw some special on 20/20 or similar show and a lot of doctors or nurses smoke or steal drugs on the job, so yeah larosat is wrong like always...

They referenced the show, "Nurse Jackie" and they were talking about how the behavior on that show is not too far off from real life...

Unless I missed something how is she a "hooker"?
